MARION, OH (MARION COUNTY NOW)—The Marion County Park District has released its schedule of spring nature programs, featuring opportunities to learn about local wildlife and enjoy the outdoors.

On March 13, 2025, with a Woodcock/Timber Doodle program at 6:30 p.m. at the Tallgrass Trailhead. Participants will learn about the unique bird and then venture out onto the trail to attempt to spot them. A second Woodcock/Timber Doodle program is scheduled for March 25, 2025, at 6:30 p.m., also at the Tallgrass Trailhead, but meeting at the Herr Road Parking Lot.

On March 20, 2025, the park district will host a First Day of Spring Hike at 6:00 p.m. at the Tallgrass Trailhead.

The final program of the month, “Listening for Frogs and Toads,” will take place March 28, 2025, at 6:00 p.m. at the Tallgrass Trailhead, meeting at the Herr Road Parking Lot. Participants will learn to identify different frog and toad species native to Ohio.

All programs are free and do not require registration.

The park district advises that programs may be canceled due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances. Cancellation announcements will be posted on the Marion County Park District and Marion Tallgrass Trail Facebook pages.

Programs begin six minutes after the scheduled start time.
