MARION, OH (MARION COUNTY NOW)—Nature enthusiasts in the Marion area can look forward to a month of outdoor activities and conservation efforts, with events scheduled throughout April.
The month kicks off on April 12 with two events: a Sandhill Crane Survey from 6:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m., where participants in selective parts of Marion County, can assist the Ohio Division of Wildlife in monitoring the birds. Those interested in participating in the survey are asked to message the organizers for details. Later that day, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., the Marion YMCA will host Healthy Kids Day, featuring fun activities, giveaways, and wellness initiatives.
On April 26, residents can celebrate Trails Day with two more events. From 10 a.m. to noon, the Marion Tallgrass Trail will host a plogging event, combining exercise with environmental cleanup. Participants will pick up trash along the trail, and the organizers will provide trash grabbers, bags, and gloves. In the afternoon, at 3 p.m., a 5-mile round-trip bike ride to the Riley Road Tunnel will begin at the Decliff section of the Marion Tallgrass Trail. Participants are advised to bring water and helmets.
The Marion County Parks District plans additional programs for April, and flyers detailing these events are available. Participants are reminded that weather conditions can be unpredictable, and they should follow event organizers for updates.
