MARION, OH (MARION COUNTY NOW)—Job seekers will have the opportunity to connect with dozens of employers at a community job fair hosted by Ohio Means Jobs Marion and partner organizations next week.
The event is scheduled for Wednesday, April 9, 2025, from noon to 3 p.m. at the Alber Student Center’s Greg Swepson Gymnasium, located on the shared campus of Marion Technical College and The Ohio State University at Marion. Sponsors include Ohio Means Jobs Marion, MTC, OSU Marion, and Troy Rivers.
Annette Walton, with Ohio Means Jobs Marion, said over 55 employers from Marion and surrounding counties are already confirmed, representing a wide range of industries including healthcare, manufacturing, law enforcement, government, retail, transportation, and staffing agencies.
“We would love to see anybody who is looking for a part-time retirement job, full-time day job, night job, evening job to come on out to see what opportunities there are,” Walton said during a recent radio interview. She noted that opportunities exist for students, recent graduates, experienced workers, and those considering career changes.
Attendees are encouraged to “dress for success” as on-the-spot interviews or initial conversations with hiring managers are possible. “Bring your resume or bring an electronic resume with you,” Walton advised, also recommending job seekers prepare a brief “elevator speech” to introduce themselves and highlight their skills. “It’s going to be a two-way conversation… exchanging information… if it’s going to be a good fit for you or not.”
Some participating employers mentioned include Honda, ArcelorMittal, Avita Health System, Worthington Steel, Ohio Department of Public Safety, State Highway Patrol, Marion City Police Department, City of Tiffin Police Department, Marion City Schools, Boys & Girls Club Marion, Green Rock Solar, and U.S. Army, among many others.
Walton emphasized that even if a company’s primary business isn’t in a job seeker’s field, many roles like HR, IT, or sales exist within diverse organizations. “There’s some really decent wages too,” she added, countering the idea that no local businesses are hiring.
For employers still wishing to participate, limited space is available. Interested businesses can register online at go.osu.edu/marionjobfair or contact Walton directly at 740-386-1076 for assistance.
