MARION, OH (MARION COUNTY NOW)—Kingston of Marion will host its 13th annual Boomer and Senior Expo next week, offering a wide array of resources, products, and services for seniors and their caregivers. The event will take place on May 23 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Kingston of Marion facility.
Bob Goyer of Kingston of Marion joined Randy Bigley for the “Community Spotlight” program to discuss the upcoming expo. Goyer highlighted the event’s growth from 40 vendors in its first year to an expected 70 this year.
“It’s become a real community event,” Goyer said, noting that people now call to inquire about the expo each year.
Attendees can expect to find information from various vendors, including OhioHealth, Beltone, The Meadows of Marion, and the Red Cross. Two food trucks will be on-site offering free lunches, and an ice cream social courtesy of Riverside Ice Cream, along with snow cones, will add to the festive atmosphere. Numerous giveaways and door prizes will also be available.
A highlight of the expo each year is the honoring of a “hometown hero.” This year, Chief Jay MacDonald of the city police will speak briefly during a noon pause that will include the singing of the national anthem, a nod to Memorial Day and those who serve the community.
Goyer emphasized that the expo is not just for residents of Kingston but is open to all seniors, their families, and the wider community. “We really look at ourselves as a community partner,” he stated.
For those interested in attending, parking will be facilitated by the Kingston bus and Marion Area Transit, ensuring easy access to the event. Admission and all offerings at the expo are free.
Beyond the expo, Kingston of Marion hosts summer concerts and other events. Details can be found on the “Kingston Residents of Marion” Facebook page or the Kingston website. Those interested in receiving updates via email can contact Bob Goyer.
Goyer also encouraged anyone interested to visit Kingston for a tour, describing it as having a “resort-ish type” atmosphere with a lively and happy environment.
The Boomer and Senior Expo will be held on Thursday, May 23, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Kingston of Marion. Local radio personality Davey Jones is also expected to be broadcasting from the event.
