MARION, OH (MARION COUNTY NOW)The Ohio State University at Marion, the Harding Presidential Sites, and the Ohio History Connection are partnering to present the 2025 Warren G. Harding Symposium, titled “Politics at the Doorstep: Presidential Front Porch Campaigns,” July 18-19 in Marion.

This year’s symposium will examine the presidential campaigns of Benjamin Harrison, William McKinley, James Garfield, and Warren G. Harding, offering an in-depth look at these unique approaches to electioneering.

Featured presenters will include experts from each of the presidential sites: Alan Gebhart, park ranger at the James A. Garfield National Historic Site in Mentor; Jennifer Capps, vice president of curatorship and exhibition at the Benjamin Harrison Presidential Site in Indianapolis; Kimberly Kenney, executive director of the McKinley Presidential Library and Museum in Canton; and Sherry Hall, site manager of the Harding Presidential Sites in Marion.

The Warren G. Harding Symposium is described as an academic, social, and cultural exploration of the life and times of America’s 29th president. The annual event attracts visitors from across the state and the country.

The symposium will include a Friday afternoon Brown Bag Luncheon Program and an evening opening reception at the Warren G. Harding Presidential Library and Museum. Saturday’s events feature the annual Presidential Wreath-Laying Ceremony at the Harding Memorial, followed by three workshop sessions with scholars on the campus of The Ohio State University at Marion. A concluding dinner program and panel discussion with experts will also take place on campus Saturday evening.
