MORROW COUNTY, OH (MARION COUNTY NOW)—In a case that has drawn significant attention, Randy Anderson was sentenced on May 30, 2025, to a maximum of 10 years in prison after being convicted of two counts of gross sexual imposition.

The verdict followed a jury trial that highlighted the severe impact of the defendant’s actions on a young victim.

County Prosecutor Andrew Wick, along with Assistant Prosecutor Earl Desmond, represented the State of Ohio during the sentencing hearing. Prosecutor Wick urged the court to impose the maximum sentence, citing the breach of trust associated with the defendant’s relationship with the victim, the serious harm inflicted upon the child, and Anderson’s lack of remorse.

During sentencing, Anderson maintained his innocence, claiming he had not done anything wrong but offered apologies to the victim’s family for the distress caused.

The investigation was conducted by Detective James Coulter of the Morrow County Sheriff’s Office.

Following the sentencing, Prosecutor Wick expressed gratitude to the Morrow County Sheriff’s Office for their thorough investigation and to the Nationwide Children’s Hospital Child Advocacy Center for their support of the victim. He also commended the victim for her bravery in coming forward, which was crucial in bringing the case to trial.
