MARION, OH (MARION COUNTY NOW) – The Marion County Board of Developmental Disabilities (Marion County DD) is set for a bustling summer and fall with community-focused events. Spokesperson Nikki Workman shared details on upcoming activities, including a Summer Bash, a Business After Hours event, their annual mum sale, and a special movie screening of “Out of My Mind.”
This Saturday, August 2, the Summer Bash will run from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Marion County DD campus. This free, accessible event features 25 vendors offering activities, bouncy houses, food trucks, a color run, and a child ID station from New York Life.
On Thursday, August 14, from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., Marion County DD hosts a Business After Hours with the Chamber of Commerce. This event offers tours of their “Smart Space,” showcasing technology for independent living, and provides information on the agency’s upcoming levy renewal.
The annual mum sale begins Friday, August 1, with online orders accepted until Thursday, August 29. Giant mums are $12 each, with proceeds benefiting the Marion County DD’s endowment fund. Pick-up is Thursday, September 11, from noon to 6 p.m. at the County Board of DD.
Finally, a free screening of the Disney movie “Out of My Mind” is scheduled for Wednesday, September 10, at 6 p.m. at Pleasant High School. This partnership event highlights the story of a girl who finds her voice through a communication device.
