MARION, OH (MARION COUNTY NOW)—The Ohio State University at Marion will host a unique food, wine, and beer pairing event, “The Art of the Pair,” on Monday, Oct. 6, to support the local repeater tower that strengthens the WOSU-FM radio signal for listeners in Marion, Delaware, Wyandot, and Crawford counties.
The event, scheduled for 6 to 8:30 p.m. in the Guthery Community Room of Maynard Hall, will feature four distinct pairings of food, wine, and craft beer. According to Ohio State Marion Director of Development and Community Relations, this event is designed to celebrate the perfect pairing of flavors while supporting a vital cultural resource.
“We want to make this a can’t-miss social event of the year,” said Gerber. “WOSU provides central Ohioans a wonderful news alternative through NPR as well as a classical music format that is unavailable through commercial radio in our area.”
Gerber explained that the event expands on the concept of the annual “Taste of the Harvest” event by focusing on intentional food and spirits pairings. “This is more than a fundraiser,” Gerber said. “It is the combination of the blending flavor, friends, and a celebration of fall.”
Jennifer (Rieke) Johnson, a Marion native and wine expert, will be in attendance to share her expertise. Radio hosts from WOSU-FM are also expected to attend.
Tickets for “The Art of the Pair” are $75 per person and include tastings of wine, beer, and paired food from Fort 88. Tickets can be purchased online at go.osu.edu/artofpair. The registration deadline is Monday, Sept. 22. Proceeds from the event will benefit WOSB 91.1 FM, part of the WOSU-FM Classics Network, to help strengthen classical radio access for listeners in north central Ohio.
