MARION, OH (MARION COUNTY NOW)—For Phillip Saylor, the weekdays are something to look forward to. Each morning, he arrives at the Adult Day Center at Kingston Residence of Marion with a smile, ready to enjoy a full day of friendship, activities, and compassionate care.

Funded by the Marion County Council on Aging through a vital senior services levy, the Adult Day Center is much more than just a safe space—it’s a lifeline for seniors like Phillip and their families. Inside the memory care unit of Kingston, trained staff provide nutritious meals, therapeutic and social activities, medication management, and genuine companionship.

Phillip’s daughter, Paulette Shasser, knows firsthand how valuable this program is. “My dad absolutely loves being there,” she says. “He talks about his friends and how wonderful the staff is. As someone who works full-time, I can do my job without constantly worrying, because I know he’s safe, happy, and cared for.”

Thanks to the transportation services provided by the Marion Senior Center—also funded by the Council on Aging—Phillip can get to and from Kingston easily and reliably.

Programs like this make it possible for seniors to live with dignity and joy while giving their families much-needed peace of mind. Support for the upcoming senior services renewal levy means continuing to provide essential services like the Adult Day Center for many more local seniors.
