MARION, OH (MARION COUNTY NOW)—In 1920, Warren G. Harding was chosen as the Republican candidate for the presidential election. His notable “Front Porch Campaign” attracted visitors from all around the United States, inspiring many to adopt his ideas. Around the same time, in 1924, Dr. Ralph Smedley wanted to help the younger generation lead meetings that start and end on time as well as host gatherings, which led to the establishment of Toastmasters International.
Marion Toastmasters will merge these two ideas into one by inviting the community to Harding’s front porch to learn to be a stronger and more confident speaker. This free event and demonstration is Thursday, September 18. Refreshments will begin at 5:45 p.m. Space is limited, so please reserve a seat at toastmastersmarion@gmail.com.
See how this international organization can help you with oratory skills, feedback skills, and impromptu speaking. Toastmasters teaches you how to learn these skills in a safe and friendly setting. Stand where history was made and see how Toastmasters can help your future, both personally and professionally. If history favors the day, we may even have a visit from Mrs. Harding herself!
