MARION, OH (MARION COUNTY NOW)—Wednesday afternoon the Marion Fire Department responded to Vine Street at E Center in reference to a building collapse.
Captain Niederkohr arrived to find the partial collapse of a brick garage that had fallen into the roadway and sidewalk. The area was blocked off and the Fire Department consulted with Safety Director Rob Cowell aswell as MFD Fire Inspector Captain Doug Kalb to make a determination regarding the rest of the structure.
The decision was made to demolish the remaining structure for the safety of the public.
Vine Street will be closed between Church and Center Streets while demolition efforts continue.
No one was injured in the collapse.
