MARION, OH (MARION COUNTY NOW)—Marion Palace Theatre is pleased to welcome Ashley Shields as its next Executive Director, beginning March 30, 2026.
Shields joins the Palace from Cedar Rapids, Iowa, bringing more than 15 years of nonprofit arts experience. Her career includes fundraising roles with Barrington Stage Company and Flat Rock Playhouse, as well as executive leadership positions with Cedar Rapids Opera and Old Creamery Theatre. Across these organizations, she has worked closely with artists, boards, and community partners to strengthen programming, foster collaboration, and build sustainable support for the arts.
She holds both an MBA and an MA in Arts Management from Southern Methodist University, a BFA in Musical Theatre from Emerson College, and is a Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE). Most recently, Shields worked with Huron Consulting Group, partnering with nonprofit clients across the U.S., U.K., Canada, and Australia to strengthen fundraising teams and advance donor strategies.
“I couldn’t be more excited to join the Marion Palace Theatre family,” said Shields. “The Palace is an extraordinary building, but what makes it truly special is the way this community has cared for it over time—and the meaningful experiences that continue to unfold on its stage. I’m honored to step into that legacy and help shape its next act.”
Tim Roston, Chair of the Palace Cultural Arts Association, said, “Ashley brings thoughtful leadership and a strong background in both the arts and fundraising. We’re pleased to welcome her to the Palace and the Marion community.”
