MARION, OH (MARION COUNTY NOW)—A 56-year-old safety staff member was seriously injured after being run over by a Monster Truck at the Marion County Fairgrounds Coliseum, according to the Marion County Sheriff’s Office.

The incident occurred shortly after 8:00pm on February 24, 2024. Deputies from the Marion County Sheriff’s Office and medical personnel from the Marion City Fire Department were dispatched to the scene following the report of the accident.

The victim, whose identity has not been released, was transported by Marion City Fire Department medics to Marion General Hospital. Due to the severity of his injuries, he was later airlifted to Grant Medical Center in Columbus for further treatment.

The Marion County Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating the incident. The victim was reportedly working as part of the event’s safety staff when the accident occurred. It is still unclear how the incident happened and what led to the safety staff member being in the path of the Monster Truck.

Deputies remain on the scene, and additional information will be released as it becomes available. The Marion County Fairgrounds and the event organizers have yet to comment on the incident.
