MARION, OH (MARION COUNTY NOW)—The Marion, Ohio Lion’s Club, after several years of dormancy, has been revived. On January 27, a group of community-minded individuals was inducted as charter members into Lions Club International.
The mission of the Marion Lion’s Club is to empower volunteers and partners to improve health and well-being, strengthen communities, and support those in need through humanitarian services and grants. These efforts aim to impact lives globally and encourage peace and international understanding.
A primary goal of the club is to provide youth and adults with glasses and other vision-related services. Lions Club International, a world leader in the effort to prevent avoidable blindness, works diligently with local Lions clubs and partners. They provide local capacity building, training, medications, and treatment needed for those with eye diseases and offer disability rehabilitation and education for all.
The Marion Lions Club is committed to providing youth and young adults opportunities to succeed. The Lions Quest program equips young people and their educators with tools to make positive choices, resist drugs and alcohol, learn through service, and become healthy young men and women.
When disaster strikes, the Lions respond. They provide funding to address preparedness and immediate needs, allowing Lions and their partners to be among the first on the scene in the wake of the world’s most devastating hurricanes, earthquakes, floods, and other disasters.
Lions take action in their communities, working face-to-face with the people they serve. They support various humanitarian efforts implemented and coordinated by Lions and give grants to increase their scale and effectiveness.
The Marion Lions Club meets on the third Wednesday of each month at 6:00 pm at the Marion Chamber of Commerce, located at 267 West Center St., Marion.
