MARION, OH (MARION COUNTY NOW)—A grassroots non-profit is bridging the gap between parents and school districts by providing free training and advocacy for Ohio families navigating the special education system.
The Ohio Coalition for the Education of Children with Disabilities (OCECD) serves children ages 0 to 26. Funded by a federal grant, the organization ensures all its services—including IEP and 504 plan reviews, bilingual assistance, and school meeting representation—remain entirely free to the public.
Representatives help parents understand their legal rights under federal education law. Notably, the majority of OCECD staff are also parents of children with disabilities.
Ohio parents can find localized contact information via an interactive map at OCECD.org, or reach the statewide intake office at 740-382-5452, ext. 20.
