MARION, OH (MARION COUNTY NOW)—A little friendly competition made a big splash for local youth this month as the Boys & Girls Club of Marion County raised more than $11,000 during its annual Dunk Tank Challenge on Aug. 20.
Presented with support from United Federal Credit Union, the third-year fundraiser brought local businesses, community leaders, volunteers and residents together during Marion’s Third Thursday festivities. The event set a new fundraising record, providing important support for programs that help local young people learn, grow and prepare for their futures.
United Federal Credit Union helped drive the effort by matching the first $2,500 raised. United employees also participated in activities and helped promote the fundraiser throughout the community.
“The Boys & Girls Club of Marion County changes lives every single day,” said Amy Marshall, United’s Marion Branch Manager. “Their commitment to providing a safe, supportive, and encouraging environment for local youth is truly inspiring.”
Marshall said United is proud to support an organization focused on helping children build confidence, develop life skills and dream bigger about their futures.
The funds raised will help support Boys & Girls Club programs offering academic assistance, workforce readiness experiences, emotional wellness resources, mentorship and leadership development opportunities.
“The Dunk Tank Challenge is a wonderful example of what can happen when businesses, community partners, and volunteers come together to invest in our youth,” said Leslie Schneider, Regional Director of the Boys & Girls Club of Marion County.
The fundraiser comes as the Boys & Girls Club of Marion County celebrates 30 years of serving Marion youth. With the support of community partners such as United Federal Credit Union, the organization continues to provide safe spaces, caring mentors and opportunities designed to help the next generation become “Future Ready.”
For Marion, the record-setting fundraiser represents more than $11,000 raised—it reflects a community willing to get involved, have some fun and invest in its young people.
