MORROW COUNTY, OH (MARION COUNTY NOW)—The Mount Gilead Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal crash that occurred on September 3, 2026, at approximately 07:00 AM, in Harmony Township, Morrow County.
According to troopers, Hunter Steck, 31, of Marengo, was operating a 2020 Chevrolet Silverado northbound on County Road 170. A 17-year-old juvenile of Fredericktown was operating a 2010 Mazda 6 westbound on Township 187.
The juvenile failed to yield at a stop sign and was struck by Mr. Steck. After impact, both vehicles traveled off the west side of County Road 170 and struck a ditch.
The juvenile was pronounced deceased at the scene by Morrow County EMS. Mr. Steck sustained minor injuries. Both occupants were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted at the scene by the Morrow County Sheriff’s Office, Big Walnut Fire Department, Morrow County Fire Department, Bill’s Towing, and Morrow County Coroner.
The crash remains under investigation.
