SANDUSKY, OH (MARION COUNTY NOW) — Cedar Point, the renowned amusement park in Sandusky, Ohio, has forever altered its skyline with the completion of a new 420-foot-tall vertical spike tower for its upcoming roller coaster, Top Thrill 2.

The tower, which was completed on Dec. 3, 2023, joins the existing “top hat” tower, making Cedar Point the only park in the world with two 420-foot-tall roller coaster towers. The final piece of the coaster, a section of red steel track, was hoisted and secured into place, marking a significant milestone in the construction of Top Thrill 2.

When the ride debuts in 2024, thrill-seekers will be launched in reverse at a speed of 101 mph, ascending the new tower at a 90-degree angle. This reverse launch is just one of three exhilarating launches that riders can expect on Top Thrill 2.

Top Thrill 2 is set to be the world’s tallest and fastest triple-launch roller coaster. For more information on the ride, or to see construction updates, guests are encouraged to visit the Cedar Point website or the park’s YouTube channel.
