MARION, OH (MARION COUNTY NOW)—The Alzheimer’s Association®, the leading voluntary health organization in Alzheimer’s care, support, and research, is celebrating the recent FDA approval of Kisunla, a new treatment designed to slow the progression of Alzheimer’s in its early stages. This breakthrough offers families more options, more time, and hope for even more effective treatments in the future.

Founded in 1980 by a group of family caregivers and individuals passionate about research, the Association has grown to include a home office in Chicago, a public policy office in Washington, D.C., and a presence in communities across the country.

Walk to End Alzheimer’s: A Nationwide Effort

Held annually in more than 600 communities nationwide, the Alzheimer’s Association Walk to End Alzheimer’s® is the world’s largest fundraiser for Alzheimer’s care, support, and research. This inspiring event calls on participants of all ages and abilities to join the fight against the disease.

In 2023, the Walk raised nearly $30,000 from the Marion community ($29,810 to be precise). Top fundraising teams included Kenya Mullholand’s “Crafts for a Cure”, the Marion County Employees, Kingston Residence of Marion, United Church Homes, and St. John’s Lutheran Church (Windfall). Nearly 250 people attended the event, which featured welcoming remarks from NBC 4’s Colleen Marshall and a promise garden ceremony from 2023 Walk Chair Erin Foos.
