Theodore “Ted” Kohler Jr., 82 of Marion, Ohio passed away on July 14, 2024. Born on January 1, 1942 in Marion, Ted was a lifelong resident and cherished member of the community. He is remembered as a dedicated husband, dad, and genuinely caring person.

Ted spent his career as a mechanic and rose to the position of Head of the Maintenance Department for Eaton. He retired from there after 32 years. Upon retirement, he became involved with the American Legion and volunteered for several years, becoming the Commander for Post 584 and the 6th District. He also volunteered at the VFW Post 3313 in several parts of operation.

As a golfer and fan of the game, he volunteered at Muirfield Country Club for the Memorial tournament for years, becoming the Volunteer Captain of hole #5.

Ted was the son of Theodore and Flora Kohler of Marion, and was proceeded in death by a son, Gregory. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Rita; children – Tim, Rick, and Kathy, stepchildren Eric and Darren. Other members of the family include several additional generations with 12 Grandchildren, 8 Great Grandchildren, 1 Great Great Grandchild.

Friends and family may come to honor Ted’s life from 4pm to 7pm on Wednesday, July 17, 2024 at Boyd Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, July 18, 2024 starting at 10:30am at the funeral home. A burial will follow funeral service at Marion Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Ted’s memory to Sons of the American Legion Child Welfare Foundation.
