MARION, OH (MARION COUNTY NOW)—The Marion Police Department Chief McDonald and Mayor Collins swore in three new officers: Austin Shaffer, Robyn Nicholson, and Austin Stickney.
Austin Shaffer, a 2021 graduate of Pleasant High School, brings a strong academic background to the department. He attended The Ohio State University, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in business finance. Shaffer comes from a law enforcement family and is the son of Major Shaffer, a member of the Marion Police Department.
Robyn Nicholson, a 2018 graduate of Delaware Hayes High School, joins the force with valuable experience in law enforcement. Previously, she worked as a dispatcher for the City of Marysville and gained corrections experience with Franklin County. Like Shaffer, Nicholson also hails from a law enforcement background.
Austin Stickney, a 2019 graduate of St. Paris Graham High School, also brings prior law enforcement experience to his new role. He previously worked at the Ohio Reformatory for Women and served as a dispatcher in Champaign County.
The new officers are set to begin their training at the Ohio State Highway Patrol Basic Peace Officer Academy in about a month.
