MARION, OH (MARION COUNTY NOW)—In a surprising development, Assistant Prosecutor Charles Hall has left the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office, as confirmed by an email obtained by Marion County Now. Hall submitted his two-week notice on Tuesday, just days after a significant loss in a jury trial involving Joe Vera III, who was acquitted of charges including aggravated burglary, strangulation, and domestic violence.

Vera’s defense attorney, Benjamin Thompson, expressed concern over the prosecution’s performance, telling Marion County Now; “It is sad to see prosecutors display such blatant disregard for their duty to seek the truth. It is troubling.”

Prosecutor Ray Grogan appears to share Thompson’s sentiments. According to an email from Grogan’s Office Manager, Hall’s last day in the office was today, following the submission of his resignation. The email noted, “He turned in his two weeks’ notice yesterday and then was told to go home today. He will be paid through March 7; however, he is no longer here in the office.”
