Scott D. Newell age 57, of Upper Sandusky, passed away in his home after a four year battle with cancer early Saturday, December 30, 2023.  He was born in Upper Sandusky on October 5, 1966 to Dan Newell and Kathy (Miller) Clippinger.  He is preceded in death by his wife, Tina (Stevenson) Newell whom he married on November 10, 1993 and his grandparents Byron & Crystal (Trautwein) Newell and Dale & Jean (McClain) Miller.

Survivors include his father, Dan (Becky) Newell of Upper Sandusky; mother, Kathy Clippinger of Upper Sandusky; brother, Matt (Mindy) Newell of Upper Sandusky; sister, Deirdre (Dirk) Schwiebert of Holgate; sons, Korey (Keri) Newell of Republic and Logan Newell of Burgoon; and grandchildren Remington, Nora and Leah Newell all of Republic.

Scott graduated from Upper Sandusky High School in 1985 and began work at Tower Automotive in Upper Sandusky immediately following graduation. He worked there until they closed in 2006 and then worked at Highway Safety in Marion until his death.  Scott loved drag races at Marion County International Raceway and had his own drag car in the late 80’s and early 90’s.  He was involved in motorcycle racing through his Uncle, Jon Miller. Hunting and fishing was his greatest love and one that he passed onto his sons and grandchildren.  He taught them all he knew about the sport and spent many hours hunting locally and fishing on Lake Erie.  Scott ran Newell’s lawn care business with his dad, Dan Newell, from 1995 to 2000 when Dan retired.  Scott then took over the business and continued lawn care, landscaping and snow plowing until he was no longer able.

A private family burial will be held at Oak Hill Cemetery and a celebration of life will be held at a later date.  Memorials contributions can be made to the Oncology Department at Wyandot Memorial Hospital in care of Bringman Clark Funeral Home 226 E. Wyandot Ave. Upper Sandusky, OH 43351.
