MARION, OH (MARION COUNTY NOW)—The Marion County Board of Developmental Disabilities is set to host its annual Golden Gala on Friday, March 6, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Tri-Rivers Career Center. The event aims to create an inclusive celebration for community members with developmental disabilities.

Last year’s gala welcomed over 200 guests with developmental disabilities and nearly 250 volunteers. This year’s event will include a red carpet walk, paparazzi, music, dancing, a delicious meal, photo opportunities, hair & makeup, and opportunities to make new friends.

Missy Jansen, a Direct Support Professional (DSP) for the County Board’s partner provider, RHAM, had this to say about the event, “Every year, those I support with developmental disabilities look forward to this event. They love the music, the food, the energy, and the time with their community and friends!”

The community can get involved in three ways:

  1. registering a guest with developmental disabilities and spreading the word,
  2. signing up to volunteer,
  3. or becoming a business or personal sponsor

The deadline to participate is February 26.
