PORT CLINTON, OH (MARION COUNTY NOW)—In honor of World Wildlife Day on March 3, African Safari Wildlife Park is making a significant contribution to the global effort of wildlife conservation. The park is donating $600, divided equally among three nonprofit organizations dedicated to preserving diverse species around the world.

The beneficiaries of these donations are:

  • Gibbon Conservation Center in Santa Clarita, California, which focuses on the conservation, study, and care of Gibbons.
  • Giraffe Conservation Foundation in Orlando, Florida, committed to protecting Giraffe populations throughout Africa.
  • WildAid in San Francisco, California, a group dedicated to combatting the illegal wildlife trade.

These organizations were carefully selected by the park’s conservation committee, a group of dedicated employees who provide guidance on conservation programming. The committee members include Ashley Hamrick, Seth Hojnacki, Kelsey Keller, Makayla Kopriver, Sophie Nader, Brandon Ramsey, Dylan Shea, Danielle Tran, and Elliot Zirulnik.

The funds for these contributions come from the park’s 501©(3) organization, Guardian of Wildlife. This organization, primarily funded by donations from park guests, exists to promote and support wildlife conservation. Since its inception in 2016, Guardian of Wildlife has gifted more than $28,000 to nonprofit organizations worldwide. Donations to Guardians of Wildlife can be made at the park’s website.

“These contributions are the latest gifts in the park’s long history of supporting conservation programs through Guardian of Wildlife,” said Park Director Kelsey Keller. “We encourage everyone to learn more about these organizations and think about how to make a positive difference for wildlife through their everyday actions.”
