MARION, OH (MARION COUNTY NOW)—Aqua Ohio’s Marion Division is scheduled to complete its annual water main flushing program next week, with operations taking place from Monday, April 21, through Friday, April 25.

The flushing will be conducted daily between 8:00 a.m. and midnight and is designed to improve water quality, enhance system reliability, and ensure optimal fire protection within the Marion County service area.

“Flushing is a vital component of our regular maintenance program,” said Don Scott, Operations Supervisor for Aqua Ohio’s Marion Division. “It ensures that hydrants and valves are functioning correctly and helps to prevent sediment buildup. Aqua Ohio consistently meets or exceeds all drinking water standards, and maintaining our distribution system is essential to preserving that quality and reliability.”

Aqua Ohio assures residents that no interruptions in water service are anticipated during the flushing. However, some customers may experience temporary decreases in water pressure or discoloration. The company advises customers to avoid doing laundry while flushing is occurring in their immediate vicinity to prevent potential staining of clothes. If tap water appears discolored, residents are advised to run their cold-water taps until the water becomes clear. Using multiple cold-water faucets at the same time can help speed up this process.

The flushing schedule for the final week is as follows:

  • Monday, April 21: America Boulevard, Jamesway Drive, Sussex Way, and surrounding roads.
  • Tuesday, April 22: East Fairgrounds Street, Likens Chapel Road, Marion Williamsport Road, and nearby streets.
  • Wednesday, April 23: Madison Avenue, Strawberry Lane, Parkview Avenue, and other routes in the vicinity.
  • Thursday, April 24: State Route 309 east of Pole Lane Road, the Depot Area, and other local roads, including parts of Marion and Caledonia.
  • Friday, April 25: Crissinger Road, Eagle Creek Development, Marion Country Club Development, and additional areas.
