Arthur Eugene Knickel, age 91, of Marion, Ohio, passed away November 13, 2024, in Kenton Nursing and Rehab. On April 7, 1933, he was born in Prospect, Ohio, the second of six children of the late Arthur Christian and Fay Yaeger Knickel.

On December 8, 1979, he and the late Averill Joan Butcher were married, celebrating twenty-eight years together.

Arthur was a Whirpool Corporation retiree, a graduate of Morral High School in the Class of 1951 where he excelled in basketball and was active in 4-H. He was awarded the State Farmers Degree in Kansas City, Missouri in 1952. On April 7, 1981, he was the first Marion County bowler to roll a sanctioned 300 game and was inducted into the Bowler Hall of Fame on October 21, 1981. On January 17, 1983, he had a Hole-In-One at Whetstone Country Club. As avid golfers, he and his wife spent many hours in the league golfing at Whetstone Country Club and at Kingsmill Golf Course. He was a member of the Larue Masonic Lodge No. 463 and the VFW.

Surviving to cherish his memory are his sister, Donna Dietch of Marion, his brother, Robert Knickel of Camden of South Carolina, his nieces, nephews, as well as great nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death were his parents, his wife, sister, Beatrice (Jack) Kellogg, brothers, Greg and Larry, niece, Pamela Sue Dietch, sister-in-law, Shirley Knickel, and brother-in-law, Carlton Dietch.

His graveside service will be observed November 18, 2024, at 11 a.m. at the Marion Cemetery.
