MARION, OH (MARION COUNTY NOW)—A busy holiday season kicks off this week at The Explore-It-Torium and Re-MARCA-ble in Marion.
The Explore-It-Torium is a children’s museum that was founded and established by Cindy Binns, a well-known Marion County artist and educator, in the former Carnegie Library building located at 244 S. Main St. in Marion. Re-MARCA-ble, located inside The Explore-It-Torium, is a retail store that features merchandise from local vendors and original apparel and other items created by Marca Industries, Inc.’s own Re-MARCA-bly Made brand.
Marca Industries, Inc., a private, nonprofit corporation that provides habilitation services, employment training, and employment opportunities for people with developmental disabilities, owns and operates both entities.
Re-MARCA-ble is hosting a Pink Friday event this Friday to start the holiday shopping season, according to Kelsey Williams, business development manager for Marca Industries, Inc. She said all Re-MARCA-bly Made merchandise will be on sale at 30 percent off its regular price from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. this Friday.
Williams said Re-MARCA-ble and The Explore-It-Torium will also be open for Small Business Saturday on Nov. 29. During that event, people who stop in and purchase a membership to The Explore-It-Torium will receive a gift card for Re-MARCA-ble.
Santa Claus will pay a visit to The Explore-It-Torium on Saturday, Dec. 6. Children and their families are invited to meet with Jolly Old Saint Nick and have their pictures taken with him from noon to 6 p.m. Cookies and juice will be available. Admission to the event is $6, which includes complete access to the entire facility.
The Explore-It-Torium will play host to its annual Noon Years Eve Celebration from 10 a.m. until noon on Wednesday, Dec. 31. Williams said the event offers families with young children an opportunity to ring in the new year without having to stay up late to do so. Noon Years Eve at The Explore-It-Torium will feature games for kids and their families, music, a countdown to the noon hour, and a balloon drop to celebrate the New Year. Admission is $6 and includes access to the entire facility.
The Explore-It-Torium and Re-MARCA-ble are open from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, and 1 to 6 p.m. on Sunday.
