Carlton L. “Ike” Dietsch, 87, of Marion, Ohio, passed away in his home surrounded by family on Thursday, October 24, 2024. Ike was born on March 4, 1937, in Marion, Ohio to the late Emerson J. Dietsch and Madeline W. (Cates) Dietsch.

Ike was a graduate of Pleasant High School, class of 1955. On August 18, 1957, Ike married the love of his life and high school sweetheart, Donna Knickel. Ike was a member of the Marion Salem Church.

Ike was a fourth-generation farmer. He also worked at the John Deere stores in Delaware and Marion in the Parts Department. Additionally, he worked as a third-generation insurance agent, specializing in Farm and Homeowners Insurance. Upon retiring from farming, he worked as a truck driver and ran a small lawn service with his son, Michael.

He enjoyed traveling, tinkering in his garage, cutting wood, and was always quick to help family and friends. He was an avid sports fan of the Ohio State Buckeyes, Cleveland Browns and Boston Celtics.

Ike will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and the Marion Community he called home for his entire life. His dedication to family and his hometown leaves a lasting legacy that will be cherished by all who knew him.

Together, Ike and Donna had four sons; Steven (Elizabeth) of Lafayette, CA, David (Jackie), Daniel (Janet), Michael (Allison), all of Marion, OH. They also had one daughter, Pamela, who preceded him in death. Ike was a proud grandfather to 12 grandchildren: Nigel and Nicolas of Lafayette, CA; and Kara (Corey), Emily (John), Kyle, Dawson Pike, Emily Pike, Tyler (Hali), Kayla (Richard), Jordan (Emily), Alex, and Joseph, all of Marion, OH. His legacy continues with 10 great-grandchildren.

The funeral service will take place on Saturday, November 2, 2024, at Marion Salem Church, 1640 Salem Rd, Caledonia, Ohio 43314, with Pastor Jason Sharp officiating. The church will open at 10:00am for family and friends with the service beginning at 11:00am. The graveside service will take place following the funeral procession to the Marion Cemetery.
