MARION, OH (MARION COUNTY NOW)—Acclaimed author Chris Bohjalian is scheduled to visit Marion on Friday, Oct. 24, for the 9th Annual Speaking Volumes event, a key fundraiser for the Marion Public Library. The event, organized by the nonprofit friends group BookMarks, will be held at the Marion Public Library.
Speaking Volumes aims to raise money to support the library’s operations. The BookMarks, a volunteer-run organization, funds the library through various events, including an annual book sale.
Tickets are on sale and can be purchased at the Library, in the BookMarket, or online at MarionOHBookMarks.org. A $75 ticket offers exclusive access to a mingle hour with Bohjalian, which includes heavy hors d’oeuvres and begins at 6 p.m., just before the program at 7 p.m. For a $30 ticket, guests can attend the program and receive dessert. A cash bar will also be available.

Copies of select Bohjalian titles, including his newest release, “The Jackal’s Mistress,” will be sold at the event. Bohjalian’s work, which includes more than two dozen books and has been translated into over 35 languages, often explores contemporary social issues and historical moments through compelling fiction. “The Jackal’s Mistress,” a heart-stopping work of historical fiction, is based on a little-known piece of American Civil War history. Other recent works include “The Princess of Las Vegas,” “The Lioness,” and “Hour of the Witch.”
The BookMarks and Marion Public Library extend their gratitude to major sponsors Stifel, Gary Branson, Barb & Jim Greetham, OhioHealth, and Buckeye Optometry, as well as many other supporters.
