MARION, OH (MARION COUNTY NOW)—Community members are invited to an event focused on behavioral health, addiction and developmental disabilities from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 20, at Marion First Church of the Nazarene, 233 W. Church St., Marion.

Local agencies will share findings, resources and next steps for strengthening coordination of services throughout the Marion region.

Those who serve, support or care for adults and families affected by behavioral health, addiction or developmental disabilities are encouraged to attend, including caregivers, healthcare and social service professionals, community organizations and other community members.

The event is the latest step in a collaboration that began Sept. 9, when representatives from 23 Marion-area agencies gathered to identify challenges and opportunities. Partners continued the work Oct. 7, developing priorities around communication and collaboration, service navigation, crisis response and access to services. Work groups addressing these priorities will share more about their efforts during the Oct. 20 gathering.

The event is presented in collaboration with OhioHealth Marion General Hospital, The Ohio State University at Marion, Marion Community Foundation, Marion Municipal Court, ADAMH and the Marion County Board of Developmental Disabilities.

“We’ve brought a lot of organizations to the table to talk about how we can work better together,” said Jim Parobek, president, OhioHealth Marion General Hospital. “Now we want to continue that conversation with the community and find more ways to connect people with the resources and support they need.”

The event is free and open to the community. For more information, call 740-383-8626.
