MARION, OH (MARION COUNTY NOW)—Now operating as Marion Valley Post-Acute, the facility at 400 Barks Road West, just down from the post office, continues its role as a trusted local provider of skilled nursing and rehabilitation services. While the name has changed over the years, the commitment to caring for Marion families remains the same.

Built in 2004, Marion Valley Post-Acute serves residents recovering from hospital stays as well as those needing long-term support. In December 2024, the facility was purchased by PACS Group, bringing new leadership and a renewed focus on quality care and continued improvements.

One feature that sets Marion Valley apart is its secure memory care unit, designed to provide safety and peace of mind for residents living with memory-related conditions. The building also offers spacious private and semi-private rooms, each with its own private shower. Because of the larger room sizes, four married couples are currently able to live together, a meaningful option for those who have spent decades side by side.

Homegrown Leadership

Administrator Kristi Angle represents a true full-circle story. She began her career locally as a nurse aide, later serving as an activity director before earning her master’s in social work. After completing her administrator-in-training program, she became a licensed nursing home administrator in 2026. Her journey gives her firsthand understanding of the roles that make the facility run each day and reflects the organization’s investment in growing leaders from within.

Active and Engaged Living

Life at Marion Valley goes beyond clinical care. The facility offers a strong activity program designed to keep residents engaged and connected. The team includes familiar faces from the historic Marion Palace Theatre — Human Resources Director Dustin Rawlins and Activity Director Tanner Wink — who continue to stay active in the local theater community. Their creativity and energy bring themed events, games, and special celebrations to life, strengthening the connection between the facility and the Marion community.

A staff nurse also contributes by baking homemade treats, with proceeds supporting resident activities. Community members are welcome to stop in and purchase baked goods, making it a simple way to support programming while enjoying something sweet.

Recognized and Community-Focused

Marion Valley was recently named Best Nursing Home for 2026 in the Best of Marion contest hosted by a local news site; this recognition reflects the dedication of its staff and the trust of the community.

Under new dietary leadership, meals are now made from scratch, adding a home-style touch to daily dining. The facility continues to make steady improvements while supporting local businesses and organizations, including Downtown Marion.
