Connie Sue Slob, who embodied kindness and devotion, died Monday, Sept. 2, 2024, at home in Marion, Ohio, surrounded by her sister and niece after a hard fight with cancer. She was 65.
Connie was born March 11, 1959, in Marion to Robert and Phyllis (Converse) Slob. She graduated from Marion Harding High School and The Ohio State University. She worked for many years as custodian for Epworth United Methodist Church, where she was a lifelong member, and especially enjoyed opportunities to assist with the preschool when she taught Music and Motion.
Music was an essential part of her life and fortified her during her illness. Connie sang in Epworth’s choir and performed in the bell choir. She played trombone in the Marion Community Band and violin in the Community Orchestra.
Connie was a faithful member of many organizations, including Eastern Stars and Marion’s CPAAA.
Connie is survived by her sister, Tammy Lou Slob; her niece, Heather (Zach) Thompson; her great-nephews; Jace Toy, Conway Thompson and Oliver Thompson; her aunts and uncles: Sandy and Earl Harrison, Becky Williams, and Donna Lawrence; and many cousins.
Her parents, Robert and Phyllis, preceded her in death.
Funeral services will be at 1 pm Friday, September 6, 2024, at Epworth United Methodist Church, 249 E. Center St., Marion. Calling hours will be held from 11 am-1 pm with EOS service to follow. The burial will be in Caledonia Cemetery, 6351 Harding Highway E., Caledonia.
The family asks that those attending wear Ohio State colors and gear to celebrate her beloved school and her joyful life.
