MARION, OH (MARION COUNTY NOW)— A Michigan man has been arrested after fleeing the scene of a fatal hit-and-run crash in Marion County that left a local man dead.
Devon R. Kennedy, 47, of Detroit, was taken into custody in Columbus by troopers with the Ohio State Highway Patrol’s Special Response Team. An arrest warrant had been issued for Kennedy on a third-degree felony charge of aggravated vehicular homicide in connection with the death of 27-year-old Dempsy L. DeAngelo of Marion.
According to preliminary reports from the Patrol’s Marion Post, the incident occurred at approximately 7:22 a.m. Tuesday along southbound U.S. Route 23, north of State Route 98 in Pleasant Township. Investigators say a Mercury Grand Marquis operated by Kennedy drove off the right side of the roadway and struck a disabled Buick LeSabre, near where DeAngelo was standing.
