MARION, OH (MARION COUNTY NOW)—A 61-year-old Michigan woman died Monday after a two-vehicle crash in Marion County, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol. The crash, which also injured three others, occurred at approximately 11:35 a.m. at the intersection of Prospect Upper Sandusky Road North and State Route 309.
Troopers from the Marion Post identified the deceased as Tracy A. Christian of Ypsilanti, Michigan, who was driving a 2025 Jeep Compass. The other vehicle involved was a 2013 Ford F-150, driven by Michael T. Reed, 34, of Marion.
Preliminary investigation indicates Christian was traveling southbound on Prospect Upper Sandusky Road North and failed to yield at a stop sign, entering the intersection where her Jeep was struck by Reed’s eastbound F-150. After impact, the Jeep traveled off the southeast side of the intersection and collided with a building. The F-150 also traveled off the southeast side of the intersection.
Christian was transported by Marion Township EMS to Marion General Hospital before being flown to Grant Medical Center in Columbus, where she was pronounced dead. Authorities noted Christian was not wearing her seatbelt at the time of the crash.
Reed and his two passengers, Kimberly J. Neidhart, 33, and a 12-year-old, sustained non-life-threatening injuries. Neidhart was transported to Marion General Hospital by Marion Township EMS. The 12-year-old was transported by Scioto Valley EMS to Marion General Hospital and later transferred to Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted at the scene by the Marion County Sheriff’s Office, Salt Rock Fire and EMS, Marion Township Fire and EMS, Scioto Valley EMS, the Ohio Department of Transportation, and B&B Towing. The crash remains under investigation.
