MORROW COUNTY, OH (MARION COUNTY NOW)- A fatal two-vehicle collision in Harmony Township, Morrow County, claimed the life of a 19-year-old woman and left a 21-year-old woman with serious injuries, according to the Mt. Gilead Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

The crash occurred on June 20, 2024, at approximately 7:08 a.m. on County Road 25 near County Road 170. Amayala Wampler, 19, of Edison, Ohio, was driving a 2007 Jeep Liberty northbound on County Road 170. At the same time, Ashley Seymour, 21, of Marengo, Ohio, was operating a 2019 Chevrolet Traverse eastbound on County Road 25.

According to the investigation, Wampler failed to stop at a stop sign and was struck by Seymour’s vehicle. The impact caused Wampler’s vehicle to travel off the northeast corner of the intersection, overturn, and strike a fence.

Both Wampler and Seymour were airlifted to Grant Medical Center in Columbus. Wampler was pronounced deceased on June 21, while Seymour suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries. Both drivers were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash, and alcohol or drugs are not suspected to be factors in the incident.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted at the scene by the Big Walnut Fire Department, Morrow County EMS, Med-Flight, and Air Evac.
