NEVADA, OH (MARION COUNTY NOW)—The Bucyrus and Marion Posts of the Ohio State Highway Patrol were dispatched at 6:03 a.m. Saturday morning to a fatal crash on U.S. Route 30 near State Route 231 in Antrim Township.
The preliminary investigation shows that Eric L. Shackelford, 45, of Upper Sandusky, was operating a GMC Sierra eastbound on U.S. Route 30 when his vehicle traveled off the right side of the roadway. After leaving the roadway, the vehicle struck a ditch, a fence, and overturned.
Shackelford, who was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash, was ejected from the vehicle. He was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Wyandot County coroner.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted on the scene by the Wyandot County Sheriff’s Office, Wyandot East Fire and Rescue, Wyandot County Coroner’s Office, and Ed’s Towing.
The crash remains under investigation.
