BUCYRUS, OH (MARION COUNTY NOW)—Troopers from the Bucyrus Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol are investigating a fatal crash that occurred Thursday afternoon on U.S. 30 in Salem Township, Wyandot County.

The crash, which occurred at approximately 1:00 PM on May 16, 2025, involved a 2009 Ford Escape driven by Glenn Decker, 67, of Lima, Ohio.

According to the preliminary investigation, Mr. Decker was traveling eastbound on U.S. 30 when his vehicle traveled off the left side of the road, through the grassy median, and crossed the westbound lanes. The vehicle then continued off the left side of the roadway, entered a ditch, and struck a fence and a tree before coming to rest in a pond on the north side of U.S. 30.

Mr. Decker was pronounced deceased at the scene. The patrol reported that Mr. Decker was wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash. Drugs and alcohol are not suspected to be factors in the incident.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted at the scene by the Wyandot County Sheriff’s Office, Upper Sandusky Police Department, Wyandot County EMS, Upper Sandusky Fire Department, Wharton Fire Department, and Fox’s Auto Body and Towing.

The crash remains under investigation.
