MARION, OH (MARION COUNTY NOW)–A Marion man died Sunday morning in a single-vehicle crash on Prospect Upper Sandusky Road, according to a press release from the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
Troopers from the Marion Post responded to the scene at approximately 9:15 a.m. The preliminary investigation indicates that Darrell Carroll, 69, of Marion, was driving a 2002 Ford Explorer northbound on the road when his vehicle went off the right side of the roadway. Carroll reportedly overcorrected, causing the SUV to overturn. The vehicle then traveled off the left side of the roadway and collided with a utility pole.
Carroll was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Marion County Coroner’s Office.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted on the scene by the Marion County Sheriff’s Office, Scioto Valley Fire and EMS, Marion Township Fire and EMS, Salt Rock Fire and EMS, the Marion County Coroner’s Office, and Kirby’s Towing.
The crash remains under investigation.
