MARION, OH (MARION COUNTY NOW)—A fight that broke out on W. Center St. around 12:25 p.m. on August 3, 2024, has drawn significant attention on social media after being videotaped by witnesses.
Zachary E. Ballard, 34, of Marion, has been charged with felonious assault for his involvement in the incident. Additionally, a 13-year-old juvenile faces a misdemeanor charge related to the altercation.
“There is no place for this kind of behavior in our community. The Marion Police Department will dedicate whatever resources are needed to arrest the people responsible for violence like this,” said Marion Police Chief Jay McDonald.
Chief McDonald emphasized that such behavior is not representative of the community. He noted that crime numbers in Marion have decreased in the first six months of 2024 compared to the previous year.
