MARION, OH (MARION COUNTY NOW)—The construction of the Flying Fish Lofts is complete! After a year of complete reimagination and renovation, six brand new, upscale lofts are about to hit the market. Despite the anticipation, all six have already been pre-leased.
The lofts offer a range of amenities including a secure building with coded entrance and cameras, new stainless-steel appliances, exposed brick, granite countertops, premium finishes, on-site laundry, and elevator access.

The historic building, originally built as a temple for the International Order of Odd Fellows, has seen various occupants over the years. From its completion through at least 1949, city offices were located on the first and second floors, while the third floor served as the dedicated fraternal hall.
In the 1920s, the Eagles moved into the building, and at some point, in the 1950s, the second-story windows were bricked closed. The building even housed a police shooting range in the basement at one time.
The transformation into apartments required bringing the building up to current commercial fire code, which was an extensive process. However, the result is a block of apartments that are easily among the nicest in downtown Marion, yet reasonably priced for the level of finishes. They have attracted young and middle-aged professionals who are migrating or returning to Marion.
One of these lofts will be Main Street Hospitality Group’s newest short-term rental (Airbnb). Honoring over a century of history, this loft will feature a roaring 20’s theme. This two-bedroom loft, which can sleep up to six, is the largest short-term rental to join the group. The best part is the location of the building, with walkable restaurants, shops, and activities close by.
