CLEVELAND, OH (MARION COUNTY NOW)—A freeze warning remains in effect for much of northern Ohio and parts of northwest Pennsylvania early Sunday as temperatures are forecast to drop below freezing.
The National Weather Service in Cleveland issued the alert Saturday afternoon, warning that the freeze will be in effect from 1 a.m. to 9 a.m. EDT Sunday. Forecasters expect subfreezing temperatures to dip as low as 30 degrees across the region.
The warning spans 27 counties across north-central, northeast and northwest Ohio, as well as two areas in northwest Pennsylvania.
In north-central and central Ohio, the warning covers Ashland, Crawford, Huron, Knox, Marion, Morrow, Richland, Seneca and Wyandot counties, including the cities of Mansfield, Ashland, Bucyrus, Galion, Crestline, Marion, Mount Gilead, Mount Vernon, Tiffin, Norwalk and Upper Sandusky.
According to the weather service, the frost and freeze conditions will kill crops and other sensitive vegetation and could damage unprotected outdoor plumbing.
Meteorologists advise residents and those with agricultural interests to harvest or cover tender outdoor vegetation before temperatures drop overnight. Potted plants should be covered or brought indoors.
