MARION, OH (MARION COUNTY NOW)—Gus Comstock, the executive director of Marion CAN DO!, has announced his resignation effective May 22.

This decision comes as the organization, dedicated to promoting economic development in the Marion area, prepares for a transition in leadership.

Funding for Marion CAN DO! has been on hold for months as the Marion City Council has had questions regarding the organization’s transparency and efforts towards concrete economic development.

In light of Comstock’s departure, the Marion City Council is now considering potential funding for Marion CAN DO!.

Comstock has served as the executive director of CAN DO! for 11 years, during which he played a pivotal role in attracting significant investments to the region from prominent companies including POET, Nucor Steel, Wyandot Snacks, US Yachiyo/Motherson, Sakamura, STAR, and Frito Lay.

“Gus Comstock has been a tireless advocate for Marion’s economic progress,” stated Kevin Smith, chair of the Marion CAN DO! Board of Trustees, in a news release. “His strategic vision and collaborative spirit have laid the foundation for long-term prosperity in our community. We are deeply grateful for his years of leadership and for his dedication and contributions to the Marion area community.”

The organization’s board of directors has already begun the search for a new executive director to continue its mission.
