CLEVELAND, OH (MARION COUNTY NOW)—Herold’s Salads of Cleveland, Ohio, is recalling a variety of deli salads due to potential contamination with Listeria monocytogenes. The salads were packaged in various sizes and have best-before dates running into January 2024.

The company’s recall notice, posted by the Food and Drug Administration, states that there have been no reported illnesses or adverse health effects to date. The method of contamination discovery was not reported by the company.

The following products are included in the recall and should be disposed of immediately:

  • Greek Orzo (Best Before: 1/14/2024)
  • Black Bean and Corn Salsa (Best Before: 01/14/2024)
  • Fireland Deli Potato Salad (Best Before: 01/26/2024)
  • Amish Macaroni Salad (Best Before: 01/17/2024)
  • Amish Potato Salad (Best Before: 01/17/2024)
  • Original Macaroni Salad (Best Before: 01/14/2024-1/16/2024)
  • Poppyseed Pasta Salad (Best Before: 1/6/2024)
  • Amish Wedding Rotini Garden Medley (Best Before: 01/14/2024)
  • Amish Wedding Potato Salad (Best Before: 1/24/2024)
  • Amish Wedding Macaroni Salad (Best Before: 1/19/2024)

The products may have been repackaged in a variety of sizes depending on the location of purchase. Consumers are advised to inquire at their local point of purchase if the product they purchased falls within this recall.

The recalled products were available at multiple locations in Ohio, including Lake Road Market, Krieger’s Ranch Market, Shop N Save, Tost, Chuppa’s Market Place, Mike’s Market, Rego’s, Dave’s Market, Farmhouse Foods, Bums, Verdi’s Italian Market, Postiy’s Meats, Pressler Meats, Macali’s Giant Eagle, Edinburgh Corner Store, Brownhelm Country Market, Steve Polansky Meats, Augie’s Pizza, Vermillion Market, Lucky’s Market, Raddell’s Sausage, Mentor Family Foods, Rego Brother’s Market, Miller’s Grocery, IGA, Heffelfinger Meats, Albert’s, Fresh Deli, Roots Poultry, and Herolds Salads Inc.

Customers who have the affected product are asked to either dispose of the product or return it to Herold’s Salads Inc. at 216 991-7500 or msabetta@heroldssalads.com.

Listeria monocytogenes can cause serious and sometimes life-threatening infections. Food contaminated with Listeria may not look or smell spoiled. Anyone who has eaten any recalled product and developed symptoms of Listeria infection should seek medical treatment.
