MARION, OH (MARION COUNTY NOW)—The Honor Flight, a national network that celebrates America’s veterans, has found a new way to honor those who served but are unable to travel to Washington, D.C. Marionite Margie Saull, in cooperation with Honor Flight Columbus, has created Honor Flight at Home-Marion.
The Honor Flight’s vision is a nation where all of America’s veterans experience the honor, gratitude, and community of support they deserve. However, not all veterans can make the trip to our nation’s memorials. This is where Honor Flight at Home-Marion steps in.
The program’s motto is “Honor, Share and Celebrate.” It is designed to recognize and honor any veteran aged 65 and over, with at least one day of active duty from 1941-1975, who has not previously gone on an Honor Flight and cannot travel to Washington D.C.
The first Honor Flight at Home-Marion was held in 2018 at Tri-Rivers Career Center. The next program will be held on Saturday, June 8 at Tri-Rivers. Any Ohio Veteran is welcome to this free program. Family members are encouraged to attend.
“Honoring veterans is so special and I am glad we can have an option for those who cannot travel to Washington, D.C.”, states Saull. Veterans who qualify for the Honor Flight at Home-Marion program are asked to complete an application provided by Saull due by May 25, 2024.
