MARION, OH (MARION COUNTY NOW)—The Interdenominational Ministerial Alliance of Marion will host its annual John W. Mayes Free Thanksgiving Dinner on Nov. 22. The Shepherd’s Fellowship is co-sponsoring the meal.
The event will be held at Logos Christian Ministries, 582 Lee St. in Marion. Organizers said local residents in need of a meal for Thanksgiving are invited to the drive-through event. One meal will be given to each person in a vehicle while supplies last.
Those who need transportation to the free meal at Logos Christian Ministries can contact Marion Area Transit at 740-382-9850 to arrange a free ride, according to organizers.
Elder John W. Mayes, founder and pastor of Mayes Community Temple Church of God in Christ, founded the IMA of Marion in 1977 and established the annual free Thanksgiving meal for the community. It’s one of several free events IMA of Marion provides for the community. The others are Christmas Adopt-a-Family, Joy in the Park, and the Easter Sunrise Service.
The following Marion area churches are members of the IMA of Marion: Logos Christian Ministries, The Shepherd’s Fellowship, Mayes Community Temple Church of God in Christ, Cornerstone Alliance Church, Kings Temple Apostolic Church, and Harvest Restoration Church.
