MARION, OH, (MARION COUNTY NOW)—The Alzheimer’s Association has announced a series of programs designed for care partners and individuals living with Alzheimer’s or dementia. These programs, divided according to the stages of the disease, will be hosted by Kingston, with the next session scheduled for January 30 at 1:30pm.

The Alzheimer’s Association programs aim to provide support and guidance through the different stages of the disease. In the early stage, families face many new questions as they learn to navigate the initial diagnosis. The middle stage sees care partners transition into hands-on caregivers, dealing with the increasing needs of their loved ones. In the late stage, caregiving involves finding new ways of connecting and interacting with the person with the disease.

To attend the session, please RSVP by calling (740) 389-2311.

Kingston is also set to host the First Annual Chili Cookoff on February 22 from 1:30pm-2:30pm. Participants include OhioHealth, Presidential Post Acute, Legacy Nursing Home, CenterWell Home Health, Marion County Council on Aging, and Kingston’s own Patti Beck and residents.

The cookoff will be judged by Mayor Collins, Commissioner Dr. Mark Davis, Judge Teresa Ballinger, and Amber Wertman with United Way. Residents, family members, and friends are invited to watch the cookoff and enjoy some sample chili after the judging. Awards will be given out to the top three chili recipes.
