Lonnie Dean Geyer, age 72 of Galion, passed away on Wednesday, September 18, 2024, at Grant Medical Center after a short illness. He was born on August 19, 1952, in Marion to the late Carl Geyer and Dorothy (Miller) Cluff, and on April 29, 1972, he married the love of his life, Judy (Davis). They were married for 52 wonderful years.
Lonnie graduated from Marion Harding High School but spent most of his high school career attending River Valley High School. He worked as a journeyman for the City of Galion in the electric line division for 17 years, and prior to that, he owned and operated Geyer Sanitation in Galion for 10 years. He enjoyed golf, boating, and perch fishing, and he was a fan of watching NASCAR as well as Buckeyes and Browns football. For many years, he coached Little League in Galion, but even beyond his coaching days, he loved supporting youth sports in the area and did his best to never miss a game. Lake Erie was his favorite place. He spent every summer at the lake house with his family, and they made many memories together there. He will be dearly missed.
He is survived by his wife Judy Geyer; his sons Todd (Joy) Geyer, Matthew (Tara) Geyer, and Cory (Kelly) Geyer; his siblings Dwight Geyer and Nancy Geyer; his grandchildren Kirsten (Jeff) Petras, Christian Moore, Ava Geyer, and Jackson Geyer; and his great-grandson Declan Petras.
He was preceded in death by his parents Carl Geyer and Dorothy Cluff and his siblings Michael Geyer, Carl Geyer, Keith Geyer, and Sheila Lowe.
