MARION, OH (MARION COUNTY NOW)—Marion has advanced to the final Championship Round of the 2025 Strongest Town Contest, according to an announcement made Thursday.

The city will now compete against Harrisonburg, Virginia, for the title of “Strongest Town.”

Supporters are encouraged to vote online at StrongestTown.com starting Monday through Thursday at 1 p.m. ET. They are also urged to share news of Marion’s progress on social media.

Marion and Harrisonburg will participate in a live stream event with Strong Towns, the organization behind the contest. The live stream will be on Zoom and YouTube on Monday, April 7, at 1 p.m. Register by clicking HERE.

Organizers in Marion are seeking videos from residents showcasing positive aspects of the town or promoting its participation in the contest. Videos can be submitted by replying to the original announcement email until midnight tonight.

If Marion wins the contest, it will receive the award in person at the Strong Towns National Gathering. Additionally, Strong Towns’ production staff will create a feature-length documentary about the community’s efforts and progress.
