MARION, OH (MARION COUNTY NOW)—In an unexpected development, several city employees in Marion received paychecks this week that were short by amounts ranging from $500 to $600. This issue has been attributed to miscalculations related to a recently implemented payroll system.
Marion recently made the decision to phase out the position of payroll clerk and transition to ADP Payroll Service, with the official switch taking place on November 21.
Since then, the new system has been prone to glitches, particularly concerning add-on pay for special licenses and certifications, which has contributed to the discrepancies in employees’ pay.
Marion City Auditor Miranda Meginness confirmed that many of the errors stem from these miscalculations, directly affecting employee compensation.
Alarmed readers contacted Marion County Now to report the significant shortages in their paychecks.
Meginness assured that the city is actively working to rectify the situation and expects corrections to be implemented by Monday, with funds made available to the affected employees.
Marion County Now will continue to follow this developing story and provide updates as more information becomes available.
